Feeding Issues
Medical technology has advanced so rapidly in recent years that infants are
now
able to survive a variety of serious medical conditions. Often
following
treatment for the primary medical condition, the young child is
left with a
secondary problem such as an oral feeding disorder. It may
manifest itself in
several ways, frequently as a motor-based problem
and/or as an oral-sensory
feeding aversion. Poor oral intake may require
placement of a supplemental
feeding tube for failure to thrive.
